Company Profile
Building Performance Construction
was established in 1998, building the first house
to meet the stringent standards of the American
Lung Association’s Health House designation
in the state of Connecticut. Since then, BPC has
managed the construction of eight new homes and
the complete reconstruction of four existing homes,
all of which exceed ENERGY STAR® criteria
and scored above 90 on the Home Energy Rating
System scale. We have supervised the installation
of performance-related improvements to many more.
In addition, we have provided consultation and
rating services to hundreds of homeowners,
builders, and architects throughout the region.
We are a leading authority
in Connecticut on high performance residential
construction. A home we built in Redding was awarded
the 2004 HOBI award for Best Energy Efficient
and Healthy Home (sponsored by the HBA of Connecticut,
Inc.). Articles on our work have appeared in the
New York Times and Connecticut Magazine, as well
as in numerous area newspapers. We were featured
on a recent CPTV series entitled “Connecticut’s
Energy Future,” and we have spoken about
residential building science to a wide variety
of groups, including consumers, architects, builders,
and building inspectors.
BPC holds licenses in Connecticut
as a New Home Contractor (#2277), Home Improvement
Contractor (#572283), Real Estate Broker (#REB750723),
and Professional Engineer CT(#19135) and has additional
certifications in building science, energy efficient
construction, performance rating, healthy home
construction, and indoor air quality assessment.
