Industry Certifications
By exceeding local and national
building code in many ways we provide you with
a uniquely superior home to that offered by most
other builders in Connecticut. Our performance
goals include energy efficiency; high indoor air
quality (IAQ); unsurpassed comfort; safety from
mold, radon, and combustion byproducts; low maintenance
and high durability.
In addition to our Connecticut
licenses as a New Home Contractor and a Home Improvement
contractor, we can offer the following third party
certifications for our homes:
-
ENERGY
STAR® is an EPA program managed
in this area by CL&P, our local electric
utility. Homes are certified following plan
review, inspection, and testing. Every home
we build exceeds ENERGY STAR standards.
- Health
House is a program offered by the
American Lung Association. The building science
standards established by this program are among
the strictest in the nation. BPC has built the
only Health House in the state of Connecticut
and is the only builder, to our knowledge, certified
to build another in the state.
We are perhaps the only builder
in Connecticut trained and authorized to complete
HERS ratings (Home Energy Rating System) and regularly
work with other builders to rate their homes and
to help them to achieve ENERGY STAR status for
their homes.
BPC staff has undergone extensive
training in residential building science. Among
the recent educational and training programs we
have completed are the following:
- Northeast Utilities Energy-Crafted
Home residential construction course
- NESEA
(Northeast Sustainable Energy Association) conferences
- EEBA
(Energy and Environmental Building Association)
conferences
- NAHB
(National Association of Home Builders) Research
Center Green Building Conference
- Affordable
Comfort home construction conferences
- Certified Indoor Environmentalist
course, IAQA
(Indoor Air Quality Association)
