This
1920's home was built with 21" thick
exterior walls, 17" of which is solid
granite. Yes it's a very solid home, but
with 17" of granite havng an R value
equal to approximately 1, an over sized
hot water boiler, plus electric heat for
the sun room and media room it was always
uncomfortable and very expensive to heat.
BPC designed and managed the installation
of energy efficient upgrades including spray
foam insulation and air sealing, boiler
controls to improve boiler performance and
delivered comfort, plus a high-pressure
forced air heating and cooling system for
the entire home, hidden from sight. SEER
12 outdoor condensers were properly sized
and installed to meet the needs of the home.
The owners now enjoy an air conditioned
space during summer months and a warm and
comfortable space during winter months with
reduced energy costs for heating due to
improved air tightness to the home and improved
boiler performance.
