This home is being considered for the LEED Homes Pilot program. It consists of approximately 4500 square feet of usable space, including a finished walk up 3rd floor and finished basement.
Key features include an air tight and extremely well insulated envelope, high efficiency heating system, dual energy recovery ventilation systems, radiant heating, and a solar domestic hot water heating system.
Foundation walls are by Superior walls made off site and erected on site. The walls consist of 5000 psi high strength concrete with a 1" thick R5 rigid foam insulation continuous throughout the walls.
Exterior walls are framed using Structural Insulated panels (OSB/foam/OSB), 6.5" thick with an R22.5 rating continous as there are no studs. The foam used in the SIP panel is similar to the foam used on coffee cups, expanded polystyrene R4/inch. The roof is stick framed and spray foamed with Icynene spray foam insulation to complete the envelope.
