The design for this custom home came from the Health House in Roxbury with an increase to the floor area. The house features cement fiber siding, spray foam insulation and a ground source heat pump. It received an ENERGY STAR® rating of 91.6, or 58% above code.
The back of the house was aligned to solar south. This allows the house to receive both passive solar heat and ample natural light in the winter. Note the roof overhangs, which protects the house from overheating in the summer. Additionally the house was designed to take advantage of the sites natural slope providing same level access to two levels.
